“Blackdog” – Charcoal Drawing Animation(283 slides) with soundtrack – 1 min 44 secs –  2010

ARTIST STATEMENT
The work comprises 283 slides of charcoal/erasure drawings.  The drawings were put into a powerpoint presentation, then a soundtrack made and added, then converted to video.

The work arose from a visit from a huge black wolf-type dog that lurked around our house (in bushland) and looked very intimidating.  The dog eventually came over to us and proved to be the most intelligent and well mannered dog you could imagine.  (He left and returned many times over the next few months.)  The animation shows the fear that can be created by preconceptions and that these can be intensified and/or dispelled.
