Research interests / activities:

Animals, ethics and the law (especially animal welfare law).

I teach an undergraduate elective course annually (‘Animal Law’) (first offered 2007) and supervise undergraduate and postgraduate students in broad area of animal law. Presented at Minding Animals 2009 (Newcastle), inaugural Australian Symposium on Humane Education 2007 (Brisbane), Animal Law Conference 2007 (Sydney); co-organised and presented at symposium on Companion Animals and Natural Disasters: Lessons for Australia from Hurricane Katrina; organised/convened a panel at Law and Society Conference 2009 (Brisbane) (‘Animals, Transcendence and the Law’); co-organised/co-convened Animal Law in Australasia Roundtable (Brisbane 2007).
